Welcome to Hazel Class - we are the Year 5's and Year 6's at Morton Primary! 

Miss Allen is the teacher in this class. Mrs Buckley, Miss Brown and Mrs Waring are the teaching assistants that support us. 

Our learning this half term:

Our topic focus is Where do we come from? - we are learning about evolution and inheritance.

In Science, we are learning about evolution. We will be learning about how offspring are not identical to their parents, how animals and plants are adapted to suit their environment and recognise that living things change over time and fossils provide a record of this information.

In PSHE, we are focusing on being safe. We will be learning about the ways to predict, assess and manage risk in different situations. We will also know basic techniques to deal with common injuries. 

In D&T, we will be creating bridges. We will be learning different ways to reinforce structures and know why material selection is important.

In Spanish, we will be focusing on character descriptions.

In Art, we will be focusing on natural painting. We will be using drawing techniques, line and shade to create observational sketches. We will also use our sketchbooks to explore colour mixing. 

In Computing, we will be using micro:bits to make computer simulations. 

In RE, our focus question is 'What difference does it make to believe in Ahimsa (harmlessness), Grace, and Ummah (community)?'

We are focusing on tennis and cricket in PE this term.

Useful information:

PE days - Wednesday and Friday  

Children should come to school in their school PE kits on PE days. PE uniform includes the following:

• Black/grey shorts, leggings or joggers
• White or team coloured t-shirt
• Plain black/grey/navy sweatshirt or hoodie
• Trainers/plimsolls
